Overview

The historic in-town neighborhoods of Mechanicsville, Pittsburgh, Peoplestown and Summerhill as well as the surface parking lots around Turner Field, home of the Atlanta Braves compose the Turner Field Stadium Area emerging market. The primary development incentive in this area is a tax allocation district, or TAD, encompassing about 370 acres. Among key redevelopment opportunities in the Stadium Area are the Cooper Street School, a mixed use district on more than 30 acres of Recreation Authority surface parking lots and 100 acres of private parking lots and vacant land poised for redevelopment.
